Ellie Garcia's Intro

Part 1) My name is Elizabeth, but most everybody calls me Ellie. I was born and raised in Anacortes, Washington and lived in Mexico with my grandparents for a short time when I was five years old. Then I moved to Ferndale when I was in the 4th grade. I didn’t stay there long though, and the summer of my 5th grade year my family bought a home in Kendall. For those of you who have never heard of Kendall. It is about ten minutes away from Maple Falls. If you have never heard of Maple Falls, well Kendall is 15 minutes away from Deming. If you have never heard of Deming, Kendall is about a half an hour away from Bellingham. I hope that I have set you up geographically now. I am attending Whatcom Community College to receive my AA and move onward to bilingual education. I have hopes of teaching Spanish to elementary aged students or teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). I would also like to minor in music because music is passion of mine. I have been singing for as long as I can remember and am currently learning guitar with hopes that someday I can learn a couple other instruments. I love swimming, acting, singing, cooking, soccer, my family, watching “Lost”, astronomy, dancing, traveling, music, laughing, art, camp counseling, teaching, nice walks on nice days, sign language, sundresses, the ocean, flowers, the cool breeze, and being on the worship team.

Part 2) The kind of writing I find myself writing the most is that in which I can express my opinions and viewpoints. I do not mean that my writing is argumentative. I mean that my writing is very thought provoking. I feel like there is not necessarily a form or fashion that I choose, I simply write. I think of the issues in the current world, or even those of the past, and I put down my feelings on paper. I find that much of my writing is formatted in question as if I am silently addressing a mass of people. It is as though I want people to think about specific issues either for their own lives or those of other’s. I suppose I choose to write like this because I believe there are very important aspects of life that society simply glazes over. Our opinions are not always heard or respected. I am curious as well, as to the beliefs and views of others and I want to know where they stand and why they stand there. I write in the fashion that I do because I imagine what others would say if they could. How they would answer if they knew my questions. When I write and ask thought sparking questions, it also allows me to think about what I would do in specific and certain situations such as the ones that I address. I find that if I don’t ask myself these questions then who will?
