In this commercial we see tons and tons of women running through fields, jungles, and swimming through the ocean, to get to what we wonder as an audience. They all are thin or in shape and all wearing bathing suits. All of that paired with intense music in the background. As we still sit there wondering why they are running, we then are revealed a guy spraying himself with a spray and girls fighting to get to him. At the end of the commercial its goes to say, "Spray More Get More, The Axe Effect." Okay, so to any male in the universe they would love to have billions of women running and fighting over them. Men will watch this and be visually stimulated by this commercial because of the almost half naked women running towards one guy. They want the same thing so they will buy this axe cologne spray. Now we all know that in real life that will not happen, this commercial gives all men a false hope: spray the cologne, get more chicks. What does this say about our media? They want to give male America a reason to buy a product that might or might not actually be worth it, or if they will actually like it or not. The video text in this is entirely false. Something like such would never happen in real life.

Oh where to begin on this stupid advertisement...
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, has anyone actually smelled cologne or body spray? I can't speak for everyone but smelling thigns like that burns my nose (thankfully not literally). Obvious fact here: the blatant sexism. This whoe commercial is just one big egotrip designed for male audiences. Then there is the key message here" Spray More Get More". If you spray this trash on you you will supposedly have swarms of women in bathing suits will flock to you and fawn all over you. LIES!!!

ReplyDeleteFirst off an amazing way to sell product, but is it really factual? This ad is giving men a false hope of getting tons and tons of sweaty, bikini wearing women-who all want to be with a average male. This is also saying that women won't like men unless they wear axe or smell good. MYTH.
The style of the commercial had a bunch of "perfect" looking women all running wildly to find the guy who had sprayed the axe cologne. This goes along with the meaning of the commercial or myth that using axe will attract that type of female towards you.
ReplyDeletewe want to add another point to the myth or narrative. Sex sells. Most commercialas or advertisements you see are all half naked men or women. Sex sells things in America today.
