As many people have no doubt noticed, there is not as much focus on traditional literature as there used to be. Instead the general public is more interested in fast paced emails and texting. Because of this, people’s attention spans for longer forms of literature have been greatly reduced to the point where some have to focus to keep reading. The author Nicholas Carr makes it his agenda to address this issue with his article “Is Google Making us Stupid?”. The title is a strong summary of the entire article, addressing one of the main tools of the internet and general society, Google. Google is a powerful and useful search engine on the internet, annd is used by millions, if not billions. However by relying on the quick and easy, are we forsaking the long and insightful roads our forefathers took through literature? Carr seems to think so, saying that he feels as if someone or something has been rewiring his thought patterns to that of a high speed internet user.
